LLMs Are Rewriting the Rules
Most founders interact with large language models the way they interact with search engines: type something in, get something out, move on. That framing leaves most of the value on the table.
A large language model is not a search engine.
It's a probabilistic text completion system trained on a significant fraction of human written output. When you send it a prompt, it's not retrieving an answer from a database. It's predicting what text would most plausibly follow your input, based on patterns it learned during training. That distinction changes everything about how you should use it.
The founders who are extracting the most value from AI understand three things most people don't. First, context is computable. The more relevant information you include in a prompt, the better the model can constrain its predictions to what you actually want. Second, models don't know what they don't know. Hallucinations happen when a model's training data is thin on a topic and it produces confident-sounding text anyway. The mitigation is specificity and verification, not trust. Third, the output ceiling is set by the input quality. Every limitation people attribute to the model is usually a limitation of the prompt.
